Chop or Not
Chop or Not was a game that asked players to make budget cuts choices. It was supposed to be hard to choose – that was the idea. The game was built in 3 weeks by a talented agency called Kent Lyons and when it went live it gathered 50,000 plays in 2 weeks – that’s 1 million chops in total. We used ScraperWiki and commentary from WhereDoesMyMoney go to analyse the data.
3 weeks after it was released Channel 4′s current affairs programme Dispatches re-used the game for a live play along, How to Save a Billion Live. Sadly we had to remove the pithy captions for something more serious which kind of spoilt it a little, but we got 7000 plays on the night and mentions in the show.
It was good fun to create this. You can still see the tame, Dispatches version: http://chopornot.channel4.com/
